On an evening you will never forget, the sky looked exactly like this. The night your child was born, the evening you first saw each other, or the day you said yes. That star alignment will never look exactly like this again.
Creating a star map poster is easier than it sounds. All you need is a date and a location. Based on that, the star alignment of that moment is calculated and incorporated into a poster that you can customize yourself. Below you can read step by step how it works.
What is a star map poster?
A star map poster, also called a star chart or star poster, shows how the stars were positioned above a certain place on a certain date. Not a generic image of the night sky, but the actual position of the stars at your moment. This means every poster is different: two dates or two locations will never show the same sky.
How to create a star map poster in 5 steps
Step 1. Choose the moment
Think about which moment you want to capture. The most popular moments are a birth, the day you met each other, a wedding day, or an anniversary. A first date, a move, or a memory of someone you miss can also be a beautiful reason.
Step 2. Choose the poster that suits the moment
For a birth and the nursery, you have two options. The star map poster birth is the classic choice: calm, minimalist, and suitable for any interior. The birth poster star map jungle is the playful variant, with animals around the stars. For all other moments, such as a meeting or wedding day, the when it all began star map poster is the best fit, because it gives more room for your own text.
Step 3. Enter the date and the location
In the live editor, enter the date and the location. The star alignment is calculated immediately, and you can instantly see what the sky looked like that day. Not sure about the location? Choose the place where the moment actually happened, such as the place of birth, the city of your first meeting, or the wedding venue.
Step 4. Make it personal with text
Add a name, a date, or a short sentence. For a birth, many people choose the name with the birth date, location, and time. For a romantic moment, your names or a sentence like "the night our story began" work beautifully.
Step 5. Choose the size and frame, and order
Choose between A4 (21x30 cm) or 30x40 cm, with or without a frame. What you see in the editor is exactly what you get. So a proof print is not necessary. Within 1 to 3 business days, the poster will be delivered to your home, printed on premium matte paper.
Make it yourself or have it printed?
You can also try to make a star chart yourself with a star chart program and a design tool. But that takes time: finding the correct star alignment, creating a beautiful layout, and finding a printer that prints it well on sturdy paper. With the live editor, you can do that in a few minutes. You will have a ready-made poster sent to your home, wrapped as a gift and ready to hang up or give away.
